Looking for Personal Trainer in Margate (Queensland)Fit for Good is currently supporting a small private clinic servicing clients suffering a range of mental health illness and drug rehabilitation. We are looking for a PT to engage a small group of the clients where the initial goal is to complete in the local fun run/walk, ‘The Jetty to Jetty’. Training would most likely involve meeting the clients at the clinic or at a local beach or park. The ideal clinic time is Tuesday 9am, but this can be flexible depending on the volunteer. |
Looking for a Volunteer in Spring Hill, a suburb just outside of BrisbaneFit for Good is supporting a fantastic Mission Australia program called Roma House, which is a residential homelessness service. Clients of Roma House have complex needs including poor life skills, mental health issues, drug and alcohol dependency and poor physical health. Group Exercise Instructor?Personal Trainer/Motivational SpeakerLocation: Playford, South Australia (North Adelaide) Kids on Peachy is a recreational based program that targets vulnerable families with children. The target group for this activity is children ages 5 – 12. The program runs in a large facility that includes an indoor stadium. In the past it has included activities like dance, football, netball, soccer and karate. There is also a healthy meal component on Friday nights. The organisers are looking for group exercise instructors and personal trainers to run programs for the kids. In addition, they feel there is scope for some healthy lifestyle/motivational talks. |

Mission Australia's Roma HouseA residential homelessness service for Mission Australia clients. Clients of Roma House have complex needs including poor life skills, mental health issues, drug and alcohol dependency and poor physical health. This organisation is a breakthrough in services for homeless people in Queensland. It provides accommodation and support services for up to 39 long-term homeless people at any one time. Fit for Good is currently sourcing donations of equipment to set up a gym within their facility. The aim of this project is to give these people the opportunity to embrace the power of health and exercise. The current wish list of equipment includes: 5th of March 2012 |
Looking for equipment in TareeMission Australia in Taree is currently working in conjunction with PCYC to establish a small gym for their clients. The clients, who were juvenile offenders, are being supported to get their lives back on track. Mission Australia staff want to encourage them to use exercise as a part of their journey. The Mac River Centre is looking for exercise equipment!The Mac River Centre is a Drug and Rehabilitation Centre in Dubbo for 13-18 year olds. The program currently has a large shed that they would like to turn into a small gym. Health and exercise is a very important part of this program and is incorporated into their routine twice a day. Having access to gym equipment would be extremely beneficial for the Mac River Centre. 14th November |

Mission Australia's COFFS YOUTH REHAB SERVICE is looking for exercise equipment!Coffs Youth Rehab Service is for predominantly Aboriginal males ages 13-18 years. It's a residential setting where the young men can live for around 12 weeks while taking part in their drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. Some of the residents arrive with just the clothing on their backs. They are keen to turn an undercover outdoor area into a small fitness space and mostly want to lift weights and box. Local health club owner Duncan Marchant from Coffs Coast Health Club has visited the sight and recommends that we source the following equipment:

If you are a fitness professional interested in helping Australians in need embark on a well-being journey – thank you!
Volunteers can help in several ways.
You can offer to give your time, free of charge to:
- Teach Group Exercise Classes
- Do 1:1 Personal Training
- Conduct Group Personal Training
- Mentor someone in need to complete a fitness goal (i.e. walk/run in a fun run)
- Deliver ‘Healthy Lifestyle’ Lectures
- Consult to the helping community on health and fitness programs for people in need
- Consult on design and equipment selection for fitness facilities in helping centres
- Provide administrative support in the Fit for Good office (located in Crows Nest, Sydney, NSW)
- Create or source resources for Fit for Good (i.e. helping to develop our bank of health and fitness-related resources for the helping community).
VOLUNTEERS CAN ALSO CONTRIBUTE BY:
- Running a fundraising campaign or event
- Helping in the office
- Contributing to our social media links
- Using your networks and contacts to solicit donated products
- Contributing to our resources page.
VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS
Volunteers who teach exercise classes or groups must have a minimum of Certificate III in Fitness and those who do personal training must have a minimum of Certificate IV in Fitness.
All volunteers who teach exercise (whether in groups or individually) will be required to have their own professional indemnity insurance.
Fit for Good volunteers will be required to complete a two hour online induction/training course that will familiarise them with relevant issues related to working with people in need.
